One Day Left..

There is only one day left to visit a very interesting exhibition at Prinknash Abbey in Gloucestershire. The Benedictine Monks have just completed a move from their modern, (1972), Abbey back to their original old, ( 1520s), Abbey. They have taken this opportunity to put on display some of their treasures. I visited not once but twice it was so interesting.

The exhibition is open from 10am. to 4pm. and I have to thank a kind reader for drawing my attention to it. A full press release is here.... http://www.prinknashabbey.org/downloads/prinknashPR.pdf

I must admit to having been upset by the way the Reliquary was exhibited.

Yes I thought it slightly odd too. I know that the exhibition was put together by the auctioneer who usually holds sales in the room in which the exhibition was held and all the precious items, chalices, monstrances, etc. are locked away each evening and put out again in the morning, so I think there is quite a lot of work envolved. The monks also used it as an opportunity to spread the faith; I heard one of them explaining the whys and wherefors of Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament to an Anglican lady.

Oh, and one of the monks told me that there was a serious misunderstanding by one of the visitors who seemed to think that the black Mass vestments were for saying black masses!!
